80% introverted, 40% creative, 100% bad at math

Hello, fellow Medium writers!

My name is Haylee Griffith and I’m currently a junior in high school. I know teenagers aren’t exactly everyone’s favorite group of people (and trust me I completely understand why), but I hope that doesn’t scare you away from taking a moment to hear all about me. Give me a few minutes of your time and I promise it will be worth it!

Why I write

I took a creative writing class last year which, by the way, was the best decision of my life. The first day we were asked, “why do you write?” …

My journey overcoming imposter syndrome when I really am one

Photo by Bermix Studio on Unsplash

I have been struggling to fight off imposter syndrome since I joined this app back in January. I know this term has been beaten to the ground but it’s the perfect way to describe how I feel being here.

Medium is primarily composed of adults with years of experience underneath them, then there’s me; a high school kid that has no idea what she’s doing.

Slowly but surely, I am starting to realize that I belong here just as much as anyone else, but it’s hard to completely get rid of that feeling sometimes.

A Mommy Vlogger just used her son's tragedy for clickbait, enough is enough

YouTube Mommy Vlogger Jordan Cheyenne has been under heat lately as a video of her went viral for using her young son’s trauma as a form of clickbait.

Cheyenne left this clip in her vlog of her trying to get a good thumbnail by telling her son to cry and making sure to get the perfect angle for maximum clicks and revenue on the video.

The video was about their puppy being in critical condition from a virus which understandably made her son very upset. …

Her latest TikTok has fans going wild

Taylor Swift just joined TikTok less than a week ago and she has already shown just how influential she is.

The ‘Folklore’ singer made a recent video on the app showing a clip from a 2014 interview on Live With Kelly and Michael where she explained her complications with getting another cat.

“Before I got the second cat, I was kind of canvassing everyone I knew, saying, ‘Is cats, cat lady?’ Two cats is cats, and there’s more than one. And they’re like, ‘No, three cats is a cat lady, two cats is a party.’” -Taylor Swift

She started an inside joke everyone wants to be apart of

Photo by Jp Valery on Unsplash

@Customwoodburning is a TikTok account that has accumulated over 1.3 million loyal fans so far. The genius behind this is user @onlyylimestoes who started the account along with many others as a joke to troll people not knowing it would blow up the way it did.

Already having fame on her personal account, she has made multiple other accounts that have gained traction where she pretends to be someone else and custom wood burning is her most famous.

On that TikTok page, you will find dozens of videos of her making custom orders on cheap slabs of wood people purchased…

One of the many reminders my pet rabbit is still with me

Photo by Kenrick Mills on Unsplash

The best creature to ever come into my life was a little bunny named Casper. Like her name would imply, she had silky soft white fur covering her small body. Her blush pink nose was the highlight of my day for so many years and even thinking about it now never fails to bring a smile to my face.

She was nothing short of perfect. I truly don’t know what I did in order to deserve her. …

They managed to dodge high school tradition, but at what cost?

Photo by Hamid Tajik on Unsplash

The pandemic has completely ruined the social lives of every single high school student since 2019 but the worst part of it is the fact that the Freshman class of 2024 got the chance to completely fly under the radar last school year.

On behalf of all of the class of 2023, I will happily be the first to admit that we are extremely jealous.

I’m sure just about every high school is the same in that all the upperclassmen pick on the Freshmen, it’s a fun tradition that nobody wants to get rid of. …

REALLY GOOD MARKETING

They really proved that every season is soup season

Everyone knows the most iconic duos such as peanut butter and jelly or Batman and Robin, but Panera just introduced us to the newest and quite possibly most unexpected duo: summer and soup.

You heard that right, Panera took polar opposites and put them together into one. While it may seem like the last thing on your mind during a summer day might be having a bowl of soup, Panera actually conducted a survey involving 700 people in the U.S. to find that 70% of people wouldn’t let a hot summer day stop them from enjoying some soup.

The obvious…

Social media influencers have distorted our reality too much

Photo by Aggy Wide on Unsplash

Makeup artists have been all over my for you page on TikTok recently and I love it. The videos are always entertaining and the algorithm keeps working in my favor to provide similar videos to me.

The other day I came across what I thought was a normal makeup video, but I quickly noticed it was very different from what I’m used to seeing. The makeup artist in this video revealed her result at the end of the video with no filters.

Scrolling through her page I saw that all her videos were untouched like the other and she was…

I will pull my hair out if they make a character say “lit” one more time

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio from Pexels

I saw a TikTok the other day showing a scene from the Netflix original Never Have I Ever showcasing just how awkward a scene was (watch it at your own risk). This scene specifically made me cringe because of how obvious it is that an adult wrote this.

Nobody has said any of the slang they were using in years and it was honestly hard to watch this TikTok in its entirety because of how out of touch the writers truly are with teenagers nowadays.

This is nothing new for Netflix

This TikTok got me thinking about just how common it is for Netflix shows to…
